This hit me right in the chest.

It’s wild how often we conflate “aging” with “missing the boat,” when really the boat’s still right there—we just stopped believing we were allowed to board it. I’ve been guilty of this too… quietly shelving dreams because I thought they had an expiration date.

But your line—“someone who is 65 and still optimistic”—that’s the real flex. Not crushing it early, but starting anyway, even when the world tells you it’s too late.

Perfectly put -- the boat is always at the dock! Personally, I'm always amazed how many things I'm convinced are true are really just there because of either social learning (others said it, so it must be true) or self-preservation (if I never try X, then I can tell myself that I would have crushed X, but I missed my chance to start).

I'm trying to take my own advice, and am going to try stand-up for the first time next week at an open mic (!!!). Here's to hoping I can just have fun with it!
